We are also very conscious of the fact that with this honour comes the expectation that we will continue to bring you top-quality events, and to that end, we are going all out to make this year's race worthy of your votes. Where's Storm the Ten?

Some of you may have noticed the absence of our Storm the Ten race that was previously hosted on this website. Storm the Ten still exists, under a new name - "Storm the 'Scarpment," and it now lives in its own web domain, at www.stormthescarpment.ca

We've given the race a bit of a facelift for 2012, to reflect the format change from a 10-hour to a five or eight-hour event. We'll also be introducing a new military-style obstacle course to the run section, and unveiling an all-new racecourse layout! Canada's only relay-style adventure race, Storm the 'Scarpment is open to solos, tag teams, and teams of 2, 4, 5 or 6.

Storm the Trent 2011...

What can we say - it was defintely an event 10 years in the making!

Our heartfelt congratulations to all of you for pushing through one of the worst race-weather years in recent memory! Miserable drizzly rain, temperatures well below seasonable, high winds (especially on Sunday), and just general weather sucky-ness - all directly on the heels of the warmest and sunniest day since last summer (seriously - what was that?!?) Mother Nature was defintely not our friend this time, but over 700 racers soldiered on through the wet and soggy conditions anyway, to make our 10th anniversary year a resounding success!

Want to show your friends and family just how nasty it was? Have a look at the Team RaceDayRush.com video at www.racedayrush.com

RACE RESULTS & PHOTOS
Yep - lots! A server issue delayed the posting of Mike Van Den Bosch's stellar collection of 2,500+ photos, but they are now available at www.stormevents.ca/results.htm, along with results from all three events, as well as top finisher photos taken at the awards ceremonies. Enjoy!

OUR THANKS TO...
Everyone - seriously. There are more people to recognize for making this event what it is today that I can possibly ever hope to fully and properly thank. A quick story to put it into perspective...

Several years ago, I competed in a 5-day stage race hosted in Eastern Quebec and Labrador, where I remember being absolutely blown away by race organization's incredibly loyal following of volunteers and staff. Most of these people would take an entire week of vacation to attend the event, and had been fulfilling their roles for so long that they knew them better than even the organizers did. They had even prepared a tribute song for the Race Directors which they delivered at the awards ceremonies - it was pretty amazing.

Looking back at this weekend's race as well as the many events we've staged over the past few years, I see the same sort of core network of awesome people standing behind our races, and recognize how they have become the key element to making such logistically-challenging and labour-intensive events look virtually seamless. I think about the late night transferring of lanyards from Trek to Hike SPORTident cards, the after-dark course setting, canoe re-setting, set-up and tear-down; the hours spent on a bike or in a safety boat in the rain and wind or out at an on-course checkpoint; the lugging around of bikes, kayaks and paddle bags between transition areas; or of people standing in the cold waiting to welcome teams through the finish line. I think of all the amazing things that this incredible group of friends, family and volunteers do race after race, and I am truly humbled by all the awesomeness...

In addition to this year's stellar crew of Race Day volunteers, I absolutely must acknowledge and thank Heather Brown, Kathie Zeman, Patty Van Liefland, Mark Arnold, Vin Lee, Mike Van Den Bosch, Petra U, Barb Campbell, Mark Roper, Marnie Roper, Fran & Dave Campbell, Paula Zondag, and the entire crew from Highland Wilderness Training. You guys are all amazing beyond words, and I am truly fortunate to have your support year after year. Thank you!!

Race Director

Salomon Storm the Trent - what a day!

It was definitely one for the record books! Not only did this year's race draw the most racers to ever attend an adventure race in Ontario; sell out at the fastest rate in eight years; see more non-motorized boats on Stoco Lake than may have ever been recorded; but it also represented the wettest, muddiest, sloppiest, most rain-soaked event we've ever held!!

Congratulations to all teams for your intrepid spirits in the face of Mother Nature's worst! You were amazing to watch in action, and we are truly thrilled with how this year's race panned out despite of the uncooperative weather.

Salomon Storm the Trent Now 80% Full!

Registration for this year's Salomon Storm the Trent has started off at a record pace, with eighty percent of the 500 available spaces already filled! Be it the lure of Salomon-sponsored prizing for top finishers, the all-new racecourses and the new resort-style host site, the return to our traditional "straight-time" race format, or the all-round good times racers have come to expect from this annual rite of Spring, it seems fairly likely that this year's race will reach full capacity once again. Register soon to avoid disappointment!

Racecourse Re-Design for Storm the 10

Watch for a new course layout to be unveiled at the 2009 Salomon Storm the Ten, designed to minimize transitions per lap and maximize on-course enjoyment! We at Storm Racing continue to be blown away by all that Milton's Kelso Conservation Area offers us in staging Canada's only relay-style adventure race, and we can't wait to return for Year 3 as we prepare for even bigger and better things to come. Watch for more details to be posted throughout the year!

In the meantime, check out the new race video!

RockstAR Returns!

Take it from those who were there - Saucony RockstAR is the new "MUST DO" adventure race event! On July 25, 2009, we will rock you once again - this time with both 4-hour and 8-hour race options, designed to suit teams of all levels. We'll be cranking things up another notch at the Bark Lake Leadership Centre to exceed the standard set at last year's inaugural event, which was unanimously voted by the organizing team of Storm Racing and Hark Events as "the most 'funnest' race we've ever produced."

Don't take our word for it though - check out the glowing review from Team Running Free member Sally Heath, in her race report available at runningfree.com, or check out the 2008 video at www.racetherockstar.com

New Host Site For 2009 Storm the Trent

For 2009, Canada's largest adventure sports event will take on a whole new region; feature three all-new racecourses hosted from a resort setting; and will return to the traditional "straight-time" (ie. not points-based) race format of years past. As always, solo racers and teams of 2 or 4 will have the choice of three separate events, custom-designed to suit a wide range of skill and ability levels, but without the set time limits imposed at the 2008 event. Race options will include:

Hike short-course (3-5 hours)
Trek long-course (4-6 hours)
Trek Elite advanced course (6-8 hours)

For 2009, Trudeau Park Resort, just east of the village of Tweed will welcome the eighth annual Storm'ing of the Trent, and we could not be more excited about it! Past host to the World Electronic Music Festival, Trudeau Park features camping accommodations for over 1,000 people, in addition to its own resort-style motel, bar & lounge, and restaurant facilities.

The region surrounding Trudeau Park is equally as well-suited for STT; boasting all of the elements that make for an awesome day of off-road multi-sport. This area has never played host to an adventure race event, and the local community is eagerly awaiting the arrival of up to 500 racers next May. Start getting your team together now to ensure that you don't miss out!
